I had the opportunity to see
The Man with One Red Shoe recently, a 1985 movie starring Tom Hanks and Jim Belushi. It's a fun flick and if you're a Tom Hanks fan, a cyclist, and lover of older bicycles, it's worth a look. The pair get around Georgetown, D.C. on bikes so there are several scenes involving Hanks's red ten speed (referred to as a "Peugeot Grand Prix") while Jim Belushi rides an old mountain bike, the type that's near and dear to my heart.
I am home today with a stuffy head cold. It's beautiful outside. Fresh snow has fallen with more in the forecast for today. Perhaps I'll discover more Tom Hanks movies on Netflix that I haven't seen!
True story: I was running along the Potomac River when a pickup truck with a camera crew in the back went by. They were filming a man on a bicycle. I don't know if it was Hanks or Belushi but it was definitely, albeit briefly in the film. Camera angle was too tight to include me though.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting...you were in the right place at the right time. On that note, I wonder how many people who live in NYC unknowingly end up in films, considering the amount of movies filmed there.
DeleteYes, me too. Tom Hanks strikes me as a skillful and entertaining actor. I enjoy his work. I haven't seen that movie lately. Maybe a redo is in order.
ReplyDeleteThat may be the only Tom Hanks Movie I haven't seen, now that I know there are bikes I will need to check it out. And for the record I have seen Turner and Hooch, Volunteers, Bachelor Party, Nothing in Common and Dragnet.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen all his movies...yet! One I particularly recommend is The Terminal. The gist is an eastern European man finds himself stranded in the airport due to passport problems. He lives for days in the airport; it's hysterical. I'm waiting for it to cycle back to Netflix again.
