There is a cut-through street that I often use between busier Dorset and Spear thoroughfares. It's a newer road with condominiums, all with cute song-birdy names. Hummingbird. Chickadee. Wood thrush. The street has little traffic and is an easy .25 mile. Since I don't need the peaceful bike lane for safety, I leave it for the resident dog walkers. It's the right thing to do. Besides, I like to woop-de-doo on the speed humps.

When I Don't Use a Bike Path

Awww, I loved taking that trip with you. Plus listening to an American accent is always great fun.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice route. Sometimes I chose similarly when the bike path is a substandard construction compared to the road, which happens all too often. When the road is smooth asphalt that is regularly street-cleaned, and the path is an expansion jointed sidewalk with no regular cleaning and an irregular evenness (humped all over, and broken), the road is obviously better for cyclists, and I will take it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity that the bike path was built where there was really no need for it, while in another location it might have been really useful. Nice video too!
ReplyDeleteI'm with JRA on my use of bike paths. That's a nice road and as usual I love the variety of trees you have where you cycle. I always have a slight shock when I start your lovely videos as I'm alarmed that you're on the wrong side of the road. Then I remember I'm thinking of the wrong continent :-)
