The Purple Bike

I spied this spanking bike, lending color beneath grey skies. It's part cruiser, part practical commuter.

What pizzazz! Let me jump on your cushiony seat, take you for a spin. Let me...oh yeah, it's not mine.

The bike resembles early Schwinns with full chaincase, matching fenders, and rack. However, it is a new bicycle. Contemporary retro meets cruiser colors.

Orange and purple. Purple and orange. With sweet details. There's a coordinated purple lock and Jellibell.

Patterned fenders, orange rims, and whitewalls—oh my!

The owner must adore his/her bicycle. It was spotless, considering the current state of our roads.  I hope to see more of it around Burlington.

  1. Nice to see that someone has style when it comes to the choice of colour for their bike! :0)

    1. Give me a purple Bridgestone step-through in 19 or 20" and I'd be in heaven...except there is no such bicycle. Rats!

  2. I like that purple, but cable locks are useless, they need a U-lock. Perhaps a yellow public service card would get the message across.

    1. Thanks John. I didn't know about these cards...

I mostly use a cable lock because it fits in my bag. I keep a close eye on my bike also, and ride the Ross bomber around the city, though I'm growing to love it more and more and would hate to see it lifted.

For touring, I strictly use a cable lock for it's lightness.

  3. Beautiful! I love that retro look in bikes and the lack of cables makes it look distinctive too. There are a few like that around here too. Vicki

  4. That's my bicycles' twin!! Except mine has a matching basket. My husband said a purple bell was childish. Low and behold the silver one was cheap and broke.Guess who's in the market for a purple bell? :D
